When I was done shooting lighthouses in Michigan this weekend and heading home, more than ready to get back to my family, I came across a rest stop that had some promise for a nice view of some of the apple orchards I had been passing.
I took the little path that pointed towards a “lookout deck”. The deck was there but the view was not. It had all grown over with smaller trees. Along the path, though, I stopped in my tracks when I saw this lovely tree. The mid-morning sun was shining through every small opening in the leaves.
So the grand vista turned out to be a disappointment, yet the path there was well worth it. Beauty is everywhere.
