We were very lucky to arrive just in time to witness this spectacular sunset when the Niagara Falls area was just on the verge of a thundershower. This was last year on our drive out to Boston. We stopped here because it is certainly one of the most awesome falls in the world. Many people complain that it has been taken over by commercialism and should have been sanctioned off as a National Park long ago to prevent that. It is still not too hard to imagine gazing upon these falls a few hundred years ago.
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
Setting: 35mm Focal Length, 6 bracketed exposures (from -3 thru +2) @ f/22 ISO 100
The exposure from -2 thru +2 were run through Photomatix, and the resulting image was blended back into the final with the original exposures. Though f/22 was used for maximum focus, I went ahead and blurred the foreground using OnOne Software’s Focal Point. I like the feel of that better anyway. Final crop and lighting adjustments were made in Lightroom.
