Morning Eyes

I hit this area last summer one early morning. Unfamiliar with the park, I arrived when it was still dark, and headed for the sound of the water. I tried a couple of long exposures of the falls here before heading down to the Lower Falls. There I spent most of my morning, but on returning to the top here, I noticed the sun was still beneath the tree line and the light was pretty nice. So I climbed my way back down to the creek and managed some shots of the Upper Falls as well.

Camera: Canon 5D Mark II

Lens: Canon EF 16-35,, f/2.8L II USM

Settings: 6 bracketed exposures, @ f/22, 29mm Focal Length, ISO100

I moved around these falls and took several compositions. This angle was the best overall. I took this wide shot and another closer to the falls. You can see that one here. The Photomatix version was blended with the original RAW files and then plugins from OnOne Software, NIK Software were used for color correction and sharpening. Much work had to be done to remove lots of debris from the water, so I did overlay that with a layer of dreamy goodness.
