Last October, my wife and I introduced ourselves to Colorado by strolling around Colorado Springs’ Garden of the Gods Park one morning. The park is filled with fantastic red rock formations. This one is called “Kissing Camels”. I loved how the morning light was also “kissing” these rocks. I couldn’t have asked for better light that morning.
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Settings: 200mm Focal Length, 1/1250 sec @f/2.8 ISO 400
This one was a single shot. There was no sky at this point in the morning and what was left was blown out by exposing for the rocks. I found some nice clouds from my catalog and blended them into the photo. I liked the way these in particular followed the curve of the rock and complimented the light. Color correction and contrast was all done in NIK ColorEFX Pro. I added a little more blur to foreground with OnOne’s Focal Point and noise reduction was taken care of with Noiseware.
