The Power And The Beauty

So what is coastal Maine like? I think this photo pretty much sums it up. It is hard not to be in awe as you stand before these rocky cliffs and watch the ocean demonstrate its power. Yet there is always gentleness and beauty wherever you look as well. Acadia National Park demonstrates this contrast so well and is certainly one of our national treasures. We spent an entire day there and it was not nearly enough.

Flowers grow in a crevasse in the rocky coastline of Maine as the powerful waves crash in the ocean

Photo Details:

Camera: Canon 5D Mark II

Lens: Canon EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

Settings: 18mm Focal Length, 1/13 sec @ f/22 ISO 50

I did bracket shots here, but used 99% of the 0 exposure. Luckily that shot had the best wave in it. OnOne Perfect Effects was used to bring out the details in the foreground rocks and brighten the flowers a bit. Color EFX Pro was used to get some contrast and bring out the wave from the sky and water in the background. Final touches in Lightroom 5.
