There Was A Man On The Hill

Mueller State Park was not on the original agenda when we traveled to Colorado, but I am more than happy we made the stop. We had a great hike through lots of wonderful fall color here. And scenes like this, well – they are just hard to forget.

Alone On The Prairie

In January, I trekked through the snow at Prophetstown State Park to get to the small Indian Village they have set up. On a bitter cold day, I was the only one here. Even in these wide open expanses, it is refreshing to be able to look around and know you are the only human around. The temps plunged rapidly after this sunset and I made my way quickly back to the car.

Sunset on the Cold Prairie

I made my way to Prophetstown this evening. I hiked through the snow to get to the Indian Village where I was mostly alone, except for about a half dozen hawks that were in the area. It was pretty cool having the whole prairie to myself as I explored the little cabins built on this plot.

It wasn’t nearly as cold as it had been at times this weekend, so I was able to take my time here even as it got darker and experiment with some different compositions with the sunset and these buildings and structures.
