To me, this is a true icon of an end to a summer’s day. A beach in Michigan, a warm sunset, and lots of people enjoying the night. Here’s to summer and hoping you are doing something awesome this season!
We spent very little time in Kansas other than driving through. We did spend the night, however at a campground at Milford Lake State Park. This was the scene upon waking up that morning. It was just an absolutely beautiful morning. You just can’t beat waking up before dawn, stepping out of your tent and immediately viewing a scene like this.
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Settings: 110mm Focal Length, 1/80 Exposure @ f/2.8 handheld with Image Stabilization ON
This one was all Lightroom. I wanted a nice silhouette so I darkened the shadows and applied a color tone to the highlights to really bring out the color of the sky.
What could be better than stepping out of your tent to this kind of scene? We camped at Milford Lake in Kansas on our way out to Colorado. It was nice because we were able to pitch our tent right on the edge of this lake. We set up in the dark so the morning I woke up to this, it was all brand new.
Lookout on Lake Michigan near St. Joseph, Michigan. The afternoon clouds we experienced at our day at the beach started breaking up in the evening as we headed out of town. This scenic roadside park allowed me to get a few more pictures of the lake before heading back home.
